Language Arts Teacher

About the role

Join our AoPS Academy as a Language Arts Instructor and inspire young minds in an engaging, collaborative classroom setting. This part-time role focuses on teaching advanced language arts curriculum to small classes, actively involving students in student-led learning, and building lasting relationships with students and families.

Responsibilities

• Teach company-created, advanced language arts curriculum and materials to small classes.
• Engage students in each class through student-led learning approaches.
• Manage up to 16 students per class.
• Grade and provide feedback on tests.
• Build relationships with students and families to support their educational journey.
• Encourage a love for learning and critical thinking in language arts.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree is required.
• A Bachelor’s degree in education or a humanities field is strongly preferred.
• Strong content knowledge in reading, writing, and/or grammar.
• Experience teaching or tutoring students.

Schedule

• This is an in-person position at our San Mateo location.
• Candidates must be located in San Mateo, CA or the greater area and able to commute to campus.
• AoPS Academy is an afterschool program with classes in the evenings and on weekends.
• Availability required during weekday after-school hours (as early as 4pm) and/or weekends.
• Minimum initial commitment of about 3 hours per week for each assigned class.
• Each course meets once per week for 1 hour 45 minutes.

Pay

$42.50 – $42.81 per hour.
