Language Arts Teacher

About the Role

Join our AoPS Academy as a Part-Time Language Arts Instructor. You will teach engaging, company-created curriculum designed for advanced students, lead small classes, and inspire a love for learning and critical thinking in language arts.

Responsibilities

• Use company-created curriculum and materials to lead small classes in language arts.
• Actively engage students in each class through student-led learning.
• Expertly manage classrooms of up to 16 students.
• Grade assignments and provide feedback on tests.
• Build relationships with students and families to make a lasting impact on their educational journey.
• Encourage a love for learning and critical thinking in language arts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree is required; a degree in education or a humanities field is strongly preferred.
• Strong content knowledge in reading, writing, and/or grammar.
• Classroom teaching experience at the K-12 level is preferred.
• Experience teaching or tutoring students is beneficial but not required.
• A formal teaching credential is not required.
• Must be located in Northbrook, Illinois or the greater area and able to commute to our campus.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US; sponsorship (including STEM-OPT and H-1B) is not available.

Schedule

Academic Year: Classes are held during weekday after-school hours (as early as 4pm) and/or on weekends. This position requires a minimum initial commitment of about 3 hours per week for each assigned class. Each course meets once per week for 1 hour and 45 minutes. The Northbrook team is currently looking for substitute elementary instructors.

Summer: Multiple two-week camps are offered between June and August. Camp classes are held Monday-Friday for 3 hours a day, with both morning and afternoon sessions available.

Pay

Hourly rate: $32.00 – $32.25 per hour.
