Language and Culture Instructors - Raleigh, NC

About the role

JTG is part of a team that is seeking experienced language and culture instructors for in-person and online classes. Instructors are responsible for preparing and implementing a full educational teaching plan that improves student proficiency in the target language through the creative utilization of authentic resources.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and implement a full educational teaching plan that improves student proficiency in the target language through the creative utilization of authentic resources.
• Tailor instruction to individual student needs.
• Maintain a student-centered and meaningful learning environment.

Requirements

• Minimum two (2) years of experience teaching the target language at a college or professional level, including experience with members of the U.S. government and/or military, in-person and/or online.
• Experience developing foreign language instructional materials and curricula.
• Understanding of Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) levels, text typology, and ability to identify and develop level-appropriate language learning materials.
• Native or near-native proficiency in the target language.
• Familiarity with Oral Proficiency Interviews (OPI) or other proficiency assessments, such as ACTFL, is a plus.
• Strong writing proficiency in English.
• Experience using online learning tools, including Learning Management Systems and video conferencing platforms (i.e., Zoom, Adobe Connect, Skype, or equivalent).
• Remote delivery experience a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in second language teaching or a related field. Years of relevant experience may be substituted for a degree.

Benefits

This position supports an anticipated U.S. government contract that requires U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency (green card). Eligibility is subject to those requirements.

Pay

$30.00 - $38.00 per hour
