WindRiver Lakefront and Golf Community seeks a Landscape Superintendent to plan, coordinate, and execute all landscape maintenance and installation across common areas, resident properties, and new-home construction projects. The role ensures every aspect of the landscape meets WindRiver’s high standards for appearance, safety, and environmental stewardship.
Responsibilities
- Leadership & Strategic Planning
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations (OSHA, Department of Labor, environmental protection, erosion control, pesticide laws) and WindRiver Design Review Board (DRB) standards.
- Promote a culture of safety through enforcement of protocols, staff training, and leading by example.
- Participate in Executive Team, departmental, and interdepartmental meetings to align landscaping with WindRiver’s operational and aesthetic goals.
- Collaborate with VP of Operations, New Construction, Member Services, Maintenance, and Marketing to coordinate project timelines and share resources.
- Identify and implement opportunities for department efficiency, service expansion, and enhanced resident offerings (e.g., new landscape programs, seasonal displays, environmental practices).
- Track performance metrics, assess staff capabilities, and evolve workflows to meet quality and hospitality standards.
- Representation & Community Engagement
- Serve as an ambassador for WindRiver, representing the landscaping department professionally and positively.
- Engage with residents, builders, and external contractors to ensure clear communication and alignment with WindRiver’s brand and service values.
- Departmental Integrity & Leadership Culture
- Model and enforce WindRiver’s values, code of conduct, and policies.
- Lead with integrity, consistency, and fairness; foster a positive work culture, develop talent, and mentor team members.
- Promote accountability and pride in work through clear expectations, performance evaluations, and celebrating team successes.
- Department Operations
- Landscape Maintenance & Enhancement
- Oversee daily operations and maintenance of common areas (parks, trails, entrances, medians, amenities).
- Manage lawn care, irrigation, tree, shrub, and flower maintenance; implement seasonal color changes, mulching, pruning, and pest/disease management.
- Resident Services
- Provide professional lawn and landscape maintenance for individual resident homes upon request.
- Communicate with residents regarding services, schedules, and special landscaping needs; ensure satisfaction through quality work and timely completion.
- New Construction Landscaping
- Coordinate landscape installations for new homes (sod, trees, shrubs, irrigation, hardscape).
- Review construction plans and collaborate with builders, designers, and contractors to execute designs accurately.
- Ensure installations meet DRB requirements, are completed on time, within budget, and to WindRiver’s aesthetic standards.
- Work with homeowners and builders on all projects.
- Staff Management & Development
- Lead and supervise landscaping technicians, laborers, and seasonal staff; create daily work schedules and assign tasks.
- Provide training and mentorship on best practices, safety procedures, and equipment use.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and foster a positive team environment.
- Budgeting & Resource Management
- Manage landscaping budget (labor, materials, equipment maintenance, purchasing).
- Track and report project costs, labor hours, and materials usage; ensure efficient resource use.
- Oversee project estimating and quoting.
- Equipment Management
- Oversee proper use, maintenance, and repair of landscaping equipment (mowers, skid steers, mini excavators, trucks).
- Schedule routine maintenance and manage inventory of tools and supplies.
- Enforce daily inspections, post-cleanup, and logging of fuel use for all equipment and vehicles.
- Communication
- Report employee incidents, job status updates, and equipment status to direct supervisor.
- Landscape Maintenance & Enhancement
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of landscape maintenance and installation experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of horticulture, turf management, irrigation systems, and landscape construction practices.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Certification in pesticide application (or willingness to obtain).
- Bilingual (strongly preferred).
- OSHA 10 certified (preferred).
- Equipment Operator License (preferred).
Skills
- Proficiency with scheduling, budgeting, and project management.
- Knowledge of WindRiver Design Review Board (DRB) standards or willingness to learn and enforce them.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to read and interpret landscape designs and construction documents.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and safety requirements.
Schedule
Primary hours are Monday through Friday. Weekend work as needed for special projects or events.
