About the role

Providence Place at Ingleside is an exceptional 55-plus active adult independent living community and retirement community located on a scenic hilltop in Holyoke, Massachusetts. We work diligently to enhance the senior independent living experience and offer a variety of programs for our residents to maintain an active lifestyle.

As a Landscaper, you will maintain all grounds by cutting the grass, pruning and planting trees and bushes, removing snow, and performing related tasks. You will adjust and repair grounds equipment including lawn mowers, sprinklers, shears, and similar tools using small hand tools. You will also assist with light maintenance work or housekeeping duties.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate soil, plant, water, weed, edge, and trim lawns, flowerbeds, shrubs, and trees.
• Rake, collect, and dispose of leaves and refuse from facility grounds.
• Clear storm drains and traps of debris.
• Remove snow from sidewalks, parking lots, and entrances using shovels, snow blowers, and small front-loading tractors; spread salt and/or gravel to prevent slipping.
• Operate large riding mowers, push mowers, tillers, riding sweepers, edgers, and other light yard equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs including fueling, lubricating, and cleaning machinery.
• Repair parking lots by filling cracks or holes with gravel or asphalt as appropriate.
• Apply weed control chemicals using a sprayer, adhering to necessary safety precautions.
• Pick up trash on the property.

Requirements

• High school level of educational development.
• 6–12 months of previous work-related experience plus three months or less of on-the-job training and orientation.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to understand and respond to simple written or verbal instructions.
• Occasional contact with clients and/or visitors, requiring ordinary courtesy.

Physical, Mental, and Visual Requirements

• Lift objects weighing up to 100 pounds daily.
• Carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds daily.
• Stoop and bend as required by tasks.
• Reach and grasp objects.
• Push or pull supply carts daily.

Working Conditions

• Work with equipment or perform procedures where carelessness may result in minor cuts, bruises, or muscle pulls.
• Work in close proximity to high voltage electrical current, moving machinery, power tools, and equipment (e.g., table saws, drills), requiring caution and use of established safety guidelines.

Pay

$16.97 – $19.12 per hour, depending on verification of experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Monday–Friday: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
