This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, preservation, and appearance of Canaveral Port Authority grounds, piers, and equipment. Reports directly to the Manager of Landscape and Small Projects, with direction from the Landscape Lead.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the cleanliness, preservation, and appearance of Port Authority grounds, piers, and equipment
- Operate CPA machinery including tractors, mowers, and trucks
- Perform care and maintenance of Port-owned irrigation systems
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Serve as an essential employee during emergencies (natural, man-made, or public health), including recall and emergency/recovery operations outside normal responsibilities and hours
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- One (1) year of experience in commercial landscaping
- Experience operating heavy machinery (mowers, tractors, lifts)
- Superior attendance record
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as a flexible, self-starting team player
- Excellent customer service focus and superior communication skills
- Valid Florida Driver’s License or ability to obtain one within 30 days
- Ability to secure a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) for access to restricted areas
Physical Requirements
- Intermittent physically demanding work involving reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects and materials weighing 20–50 pounds
- Work in adverse conditions: tight or enclosed spaces, heights, indoor/outdoor environments
- Potential exposure to heat, humidity, inclement weather, and other disagreeable elements
- Work in and around moving vehicles and equipment, requiring heightened safety awareness
Working Conditions
- Tasks performed in both indoor and outdoor environments
- Safety-sensitive position
