Landscape Scale Restoration Grants

About the Program

The Landscape Scale Restoration (LSR) Grant Program is one of the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire & State Lands (FFSL) Cooperative Forestry Programs, conducted in partnership with the USDA Forest Service, State & Private Forestry. Initiated in 2008, the Forest Service developed a competitive grants program for state forestry agencies to create and implement collaborative, landscape-scale forest restoration projects. The competitive grants process among Western states is developed and administered by the Western Forestry Leadership Coalition (WFLC). Under current Forest Service guidance, administrative responsibilities remain with state forestry agencies.

Utah FFSL is revising its LSR competitive grant processes to expand eligibility and encourage high-quality project applications from Utah for the Western states competition. FFSL will administer the grant application, award, and reporting processes in cooperation with the WFLC and the Forest Service.

How to Apply

Pre-proposal applications for the LSR Program are due August 1, 2025. Applicants should download and complete the Pre-Proposal Section using Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat—do not use a web browser PDF plugin.

Note: While the FY26 guidance has not been released, the program is expected to remain substantially similar to FY25. However, federal funding uncertainties may impact final details.
