Landscape Designer II/III
About the role
Timmons Group is seeking a Landscape Designer II/III in our Greensboro, NC office. Our award-winning landscape architecture and land-planning team serves commercial, mixed-use, parks and open space, energy and renewables, campus and institution, multi-family, and government clients. We create dynamic places tailored to client goals and the communities we serve.
Responsibilities
- Design and Technical Production (80–90%)
- Collaborate with project managers and team members on a variety of project types and scales.
- Assist project teams with landscape plans through all phases: site inventory, concept design, schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
- Prepare illustrative design plans and 3D renderings.
- Assist in preparing construction cost estimates and specifications.
- Communicate with internal engineering teams, external vendors, and other disciplines.
- Participate in construction administration.
- Advocate for landscape architecture at Timmons Group.
- Project and Task Management (10–15%)
- Manage internal project tasks led by civil engineering teams that include landscape design.
- Provide QA/QC from concept to documentation.
- Maintain project deadlines, budgets, milestones, and deliverables.
- Mentor design staff and advocate for landscape architecture.
- Administrative Management and Training (10–15%)
- Attend weekly project meetings and monthly design-team meetings.
- Act as a design resource for projects and department standards.
- Develop proposals and scope-of-work documents.
- Engage in training and professional development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program (non-accredited degrees may be considered).
- 2–8 years’ experience in landscape architecture.
- Professional registration or progress toward it is preferred.
- Strong design, graphic, and communication skills.
- Creative, open-minded, and organized team player.
- Knowledge of plants and experience developing landscape plans.
- Experience producing high-quality concept drawings, presentations, and construction documentation.
- Experience in construction administration and specifications.
- Knowledge of project accounting and ability to manage schedules and budgets.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Land F/X, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, 3D modeling programs, Microsoft Suite, BlueBeam PDF, and construction-management software.
- LEED or SITES accreditation is preferred but not required.
