Landscape Designer II/III

Timmons Group is seeking a Landscape Designer II/III in our Charlotte, NC office. Our award-winning landscape architecture and land planning team offers services for commercial, mixed-use, parks and open space, energy and renewables, campus and institution, multi-family, and government clients. We create dynamic places tailored to clients’ goals and the communities we serve.

Responsibilities

• Design and Technical Production (80-90%)
  • Collaborate with project managers and team members on various project types and scales.
  • Assist with landscape plans through all phases: site inventory, concept design, schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
  • Prepare illustrative design plans and 3D renderings.
  • Assist in preparing construction cost estimates and specifications.
  • Communicate with internal engineering teams and external vendors.
  • Participate in construction administration.
  • Advocate for landscape architecture at Timmons Group.
• Project and Task Management (10-15%)
  • Manage internal project tasks led by civil engineering teams that include landscape design.
  • Provide QA/QC from concept to documentation.
  • Maintain project deadlines, budgets, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Mentor design staff and advocate for landscape architecture.
• Administrative Management and Training (10-15%)
  • Attend weekly and monthly meetings to coordinate projects and workplans.
  • Act as a design resource for projects and department standards.
  • Develop proposals and scope of work as needed.
  • Engage in training and professional development opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program (non-accredited degrees may be considered).
• 2–8 years’ experience in landscape architecture.
• Professional registration or progress toward it is preferred.
• Excellent design, graphic, and communication skills.
• Creative, open-minded, and organized.
• Knowledge of plants and experience developing landscape plans.
• Experience producing high-quality concept drawings, presentations, and construction documentation.
• Experience with construction administration and specifications.
• Knowledge of project accounting and ability to manage schedules and budgets.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Land F/X, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, 3D modeling programs, Microsoft Suite, BlueBeam PDF, and construction management software.
• LEED or SITES Accreditation is preferred but not required.
