Landscape Designer
About the role
SE Group is seeking an aspiring Landscape Designer to join our office in Salt Lake City. This is an exciting opportunity to join an industry-leading team that are at the forefront of planning and designing places that encourage and inspire outdoor recreation. Your project experience will touch our target markets of Mountain Resorts, Communities, and Public Lands and include parks, open space, and trail master planning and design, as well as streetscape, bike parks, campgrounds, and multi-season resort projects across the country – our work takes us to places that most people target for a vacation!
What You’ll Do
- Site Design: Collaborate with team members and project partners to advance projects from planning and site analysis through concept design, design development, construction documentation, and implementation.
- Graphic Communication: Create clear and compelling maps, diagrams, sketches, and renderings to communicate design ideas and project outcomes.
- Technical Production: Support the development of layout, grading, planting, and detail drawings to facilitate site construction.
- 3D Modeling: Develop 3D models using tools such as SketchUp, Rhino, Lumion, and emerging technologies to explore, refine, and present design concepts.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Support on-site project meetings, design charrettes, and project presentations.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: This position is primarily designed for candidates that are relatively new to the field of Landscape Architecture and have 0 to 3 years of professional experience.
- Education: Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited institution.
- Skills:
- Strong ability to communicate ideas graphically; hand-sketching skills are preferred – show us your skills in your portfolio!
- Proficiency with design tools such as AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Cloud suite, and 3D-modeling platforms – you’ll use these tools day-in and day-out to communicate your work
- Technical design and documentation skills – including grading and detailing
- Excellent communication skills – this position requires you to be able to contribute to projects narratively
- Traits:

- Demonstrated ability to participate in multiple projects at once, often with varying scales/scopes – this work will require you to be highly organized and work in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to achieve high results in an independent work setting – key in our distributed team
Location
We will be prioritizing candidates that can work from our office in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Reports to
Senior Landscape Architect, Mountain Resorts Market Area.
What You Can Expect from Us
- The anticipated salary range for this position is between $60,000 - $70,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, and location.
