Lands Caretaker

Responsibilities

• Assume day-to-day responsibility for property operations in the absence of the primary caretaker
• Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs of buildings, docks, roads, utilities, and equipment
• Conduct safety and property inspections to identify hazards, maintenance needs, or environmental concerns, and take appropriate corrective actions
• Operate and maintain tools, mechanical systems, and watercraft, including generators, chainsaws, engines, and boat motors
• Convey accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, equipment usage, and incidents to Lands Manager
• Support environmentally responsible practices such as waste management, resource conservation, and habitat protection
• Communicate operational issues, maintenance needs, or safety concerns to the Lands Manager
• Perform other duties as required to ensure smooth operation of the property

Qualifications

• Necessary Skills and Knowledge: Strong knowledge of property maintenance, infrastructure repair, and facility upkeep
• Ability to operate boats, tools, and mechanical equipment commonly used in remote property management
• Mechanical aptitude for small engines, generators, and other power equipment
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a remote environment
• Situational awareness, commitment to safety, and attention to detail
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with Lands Manager
• Physical fitness and ability to perform outdoor work in all weather conditions

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 1-3 years of related experience
• Experience operating boats, tools, or mechanical equipment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in remote camp, lodge, or logging property operations
• Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or general construction repair
• Valid driver’s license preferred but not required
• Previous experience with Alaska Native Corporations (ANCs) or exposure to Alaska Native cultures
