Landfill Gas Technician

Waste Connections is seeking a hands-on, safety-focused Landfill Gas Technician to join our team in Oakdale, LA. This role is fully outdoors and requires working in all weather conditions.

About the role

You’ll be part of a small, skilled team responsible for maintaining and optimizing the landfill gas collection and control system (GCCS) that supports safe and compliant landfill operations.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain landfill gas system components in the field
• Pull, clean, and service pumps according to the preventive maintenance schedule
• Perform well-field valve and vacuum adjustments to ensure proper system performance
• Run and fuse poly pipe as needed for system expansions or repairs
• Calibrate, operate, and maintain electronic monitoring and data-collection equipment
• Respond to after-hours GCCS alarms or malfunctions on an on-call rotation
• Complete additional duties as assigned to support landfill operations

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Work is performed entirely outdoors, year-round, in all weather conditions
• Frequent exposure to dirt, odors, uneven terrain, and other landfill-related elements
• Requires strenuous physical activity, including lifting, pushing, and pulling items over 50 lbs.
• Regular walking, bending, climbing, and working on slopes or rough ground
• Requires attention to detail, taking extensive notes and effectively communicating with supervisor

Schedule

• 100% outdoor role
• Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM
• On-call nights & weekends
