About the role
If you have a solid background in labor, mechanical work, or industrial maintenance and prefer a reliable schedule where you can work with your hands, this is the right fit. As a Landfill Gas Technician at our Sampson County Landfill in Roseboro, NC, you will be responsible for keeping our Gas Collection and Treatment systems running safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, adjust, and repair the gas collection piping field to keep concentration levels right where they need to be.
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and fixes on gas conditioning equipment and power generation systems (including generator switchgear).
- Troubleshoot mechanical or operational issues and team up with the Gas Plant Supervisor or vendors to get things running smoothly again.
- Keep simple, accurate daily logs of plant conditions, start-up/shut-down times, and equipment calibration.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area and strictly follow all safety regulations to ensure you and your crew go home safe every day.
Requirements
- Previous hands-on experience in a mechanical, electrical, or industrial labor field is strongly desired.
- Strong ability to repair and maintain tools, machinery, and heavy equipment. Must be able to read and use mechanical/parts manuals.
- Ability to follow detailed technical directions and work productively without someone constantly watching over your shoulder.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Must be willing to participate in a night and weekend on-call schedule for system emergencies.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- Heavy Lifting: This is a highly physical labor role. You must be able to frequently lift, push, or pull up to 100 pounds.
- Stamina: Constant standing, walking, kneeling, climbing, and bending in an active industrial environment.
- The Elements: You will work outdoors and in plant environments, meaning regular exposure to hot and cold weather, loud noise, moving mechanical parts, and airborne particles.
