Landfill Gas Technician
About the role
We are seeking a landfill gas technician to support our Operations & Maintenance (O&M) efforts. The role involves extensive travel in a company vehicle to various landfills primarily within Texas and Louisiana, with potential travel to surrounding states. The main task is performing Surface Emissions Monitoring (SEM), which requires walking a serpentine path on landfills in uneven conditions to check for emissions levels. Monitoring is required monthly to quarterly, and the position includes a company truck and per diem for overnight stays.
Responsibilities
- Travel to various landfill sites primarily in Texas and Louisiana to perform Surface Emissions Monitoring (SEM).
- Walk serpentine paths on landfills, navigating uneven terrain with tall grass, to monitor emissions.
- Conduct data collection and environmental testing as part of landfill gas management.
- Maintain a clean driving record as a company vehicle will be provided.
Essential Skills
- Experience in landfill operations and landfill gas management.
- Proficiency in environmental engineering and data entry.
- Familiarity with environmental testing and field sampling.
- Mechanical experience and Surface Emissions Monitoring (SEM) experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience traveling and working in outdoor environments with extensive walking, such as in military, landfill, or field service roles.
- A clean driving record is essential; a three‑year Motor Vehicle Report will be required.
- Landfill gas experience is considered a plus.
Work Environment
This role involves extensive travel within Texas, Louisiana, and surrounding states to perform SEM tasks at various landfill sites. The job requires working in outdoor environments with a lot of walking over uneven terrains. The company provides a supportive work culture focused on safety and personal growth.
Job Type & Location
Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX. Fully onsite.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $20.00 per hour. Individual compensation within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent factors.
