About the role
The Land Technician supports Halo’s land teams by maintaining accurate records, organizing lease and title files, verifying tract and ownership details, and helping ensure critical project data is complete and usable. This role is best suited for someone who is highly organized, detail focused, dependable, and comfortable working across large volumes of documentation.
Responsibilities
- Input and maintain accurate lease, ownership, and tract data in spreadsheets, trackers, and land databases
- Review lease terms, ownership information, and tract details for completeness and accuracy
- Maintain lease records, including term dates, expiration dates, extension tracking, and related obligations
- Cross reference abstracts, deeds, leases, and supporting documentation to validate land records
- Support chain of title verification by organizing and reviewing relevant ownership materials
- Review and organize lease files, abstracts, title materials, and ownership documentation
- Maintain clean, complete, and properly named digital files across shared drives and project folders
- Ensure file version control and consistent formatting across active projects
- Upload finalized lease packets, supporting exhibits, and related documentation into required systems or client portals
- Prepare organized, client ready files and internal support materials for team use
- Assist with curative efforts by organizing probate documents, conveyance materials, and held by production data
- Identify missing, inconsistent, or unclear records and flag issues to the appropriate internal team
- Escalate title, lease, or ownership discrepancies early so they can be resolved quickly
- Help compile supporting documentation needed for legal review or project follow up
- Generate reports, summaries, and status updates for internal stakeholders and clients
- Cook up coordination closely with Landmen, Abstractors, GIS, Legal, and project leads to keep information aligned
- Support internal teams by ensuring tract, lease, and title records remain current as projects evolve
- Communicate proactively when records are incomplete, documentation is missing, or timelines are at risk
Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in a land, title, administrative, legal support, or records focused role
- Working knowledge of lease terms, title documentation, and legal land descriptions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with large datasets
- Strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast paced environment
- Familiarity with deeds, leases, abstracts, probate materials, and related land documentation
- Ability to review records carefully and identify missing or inconsistent information
- Comfort working in digital file systems, shared drives, and spreadsheet based workflows
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting land, title, legal, or acquisition teams in oil and gas, renewable energy, or infrastructure
- Familiarity with leasehold environments in the Appalachian Basin or similar operating regions
- Experience using land software platforms, document management systems, or GIS supported tract materials
- Prior exposure to curative support, ownership review, or lease administration workflows
