Land Survey Technician

About the role

We are seeking a land survey technician who is passionate about improving daily lives through quality survey work. The primary focus of your field work will be on transportation projects, including topographic surveys, right-of-way surveys, highway design surveys, construction layout, and boundary surveys. Your office responsibilities will involve point and data management, calculations, and the preparation of various survey documents such as Transportation Project Plats, Traditional Right-of-way Plats, Plat of Surveys, and Certified Survey Maps. Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform topographic surveys, right-of-way surveys, highway design surveys, construction layout, and boundary surveys in the field.
• Manage and input data using modern survey methods including robotic total stations, data collectors, Trimble Business Center, and GPS/VRS.
• Conduct calculations and prepare survey documents such as Transportation Project Plats, Traditional Right-of-way Plats, Plat of Surveys, and Certified Survey Maps.
• Occasionally travel overnight for project requirements.

Requirements

• AS or BS degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field
• Previous work experience in land surveying
• Experience with modern survey methods including use of robotic total stations, data collectors, Trimble Business Center, and GPS/VRS
• Strong attention to details and accuracy
• Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D (a plus)
• WisDOT project experience (a plus)
• Valid driver’s license
