Job Description

Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard surveying techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.

Processing design plans to staking files for field crews including review of the accuracy and constructability of the design prior to staking.

Conduct and oversee infrastructure and utility staking: ensuring proper site layout, control, and adherence to plans.

Manage a field crew to perform surveying and staking projects.

Plan, schedules conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of the surveying work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.

Perform work that involves conventional surveying practice but may include a variety of complex features.

Direct conversations with clients at beginning, during, and end of projects.

Capable of supervising or coordinating the work of surveyors, technicians, and others who assist in specific assignments.

Able to process and prepare drawings.

Coordination with other BGE departments internally and externally to operate as One Team.

Job Requirements

  • 5 plus years of experience in Land Surveying to include Construction Staking is required
  • Certification as PLS, SIT is a plus
  • Drone Pilot License is a plus
  • Strong Computer Skills, working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office is required.
  • Experience with MicroStation is a plus
  • Prior experience with civil engineering projects preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of BGE employees, clients, and other stakeholders
