About the role

Join the Lacey KPFF team as a motivated and energetic Survey Instrument Person on our surveying team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting field surveys using various surveying instruments and equipment while maintaining high accuracy standards. The position entails field work and minimal office work.

Responsibilities

  • Field topographic, boundary, right-of-way and construction surveying, and supporting office staff
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Willingness to work on a variety of project types
  • Time management to ensure commitments and schedules are adhered to
  • Operate surveying instruments including total stations, GPS equipment, and data collectors
  • Perform construction layout and topographic surveys
  • Record field measurements and maintain detailed field notes
  • Set up and maintain survey equipment
  • Assist in establishing horizontal and vertical control points
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures on construction sites
  • Transport equipment to and from job sites
  • Perform basic calculations and verify data accuracy
  • Communicate effectively with survey crew members and project leads
  • Maintain equipment in proper working condition

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year experience in the land surveying field
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid Driver License
  • Carlson Survey software, Topcon robotics and AutoCAD experience desired

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work outdoors in various weather conditions and navigate on uneven terrain. Physical ability to lift, carry, and set up equipment in the field weighing up to 50 pounds. Operate surveying equipment, including total stations, GPS units, and data collectors, with precision. Adhere to safety protocols and wear required protective gear while working on active job sites.

Pay

The hourly rate for this role is competitive with a range of $27.00 to $40.00 determined by experience. This position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FSLA) and is eligible to receive overtime compensation at 1.5 times the regular rate of pay for all hours worked beyond 40 hours in a standard work week.
