About the role
At Thomas & Hutton, you will work alongside experienced survey professionals to collect critical field data supporting engineering, design, and construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a two- to three-person survey crew assisting with a variety of land surveying activities
- Absorb and assist with boundary, topographic, construction staking, and other field surveys
- Operate and assist with survey equipment including robotic total stations, GPS equipment, and data collectors
- Carry supplies, hold equipment, drive stakes, and assist with clearing survey lines as needed
- Record field measurements and assist in maintaining accurate survey documentation
- Maintain and transport survey equipment safely to and from job sites
- Cookordination with the survey crew and project teams to complete assignments efficiently and accurately
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior experience working in an outdoor environment preferred
- Previous land surveying experience preferred
- Experience with Carlson SurvCE, robotic total stations, and Trimble GPS equipment a plus
- Valid driver’s license required (this position requires driving)

- Written and verbal communication skills
- Strong work ethic and willingness to work overtime when required

- Ability to perform strenuous physical activity in a wide range of temperatures and outdoor work environments
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to climb hills and walk long distances across varied terrain
- Ability to traverse wooded areas, construction sites, and undeveloped land
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
- Ability to work in environments that may contain venomous snakes and insects such as ticks, red bugs, wasps, bees, hornets, and yellow jackets

Pay
- Competitive salary plus performance bonus
Schedule
- A regular schedule of Monday–Thursday 6:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., plus overtime as needed
