About the role

The Land Application Crew Lead at Smithfield is responsible for safely applying lagoon effluent to manage the system. This position involves coordinating crew activities, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining equipment.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and enforce company policies and safety regulations
• Operate application equipment according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and state regulations
• Supervise daily activities of multiple full-time associates
• Perform equipment maintenance and water testing as required
• Document work order information and update application maps daily
• Provide information for reports and coordinate daily tasks
• Participate in special projects as needed
• Follow biosecurity protocols and demonstrate punctuality, cooperation, and responsibility
• Comply with all MSI components, including EMS, IPS, and animal welfare policies and procedures

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• B-level CAFO certification
• Valid drivers license
• Wastewater certification preferred
• Knowledge of database software, internet software, spreadsheet software, word processing software, email, and ability to read and interpret documents
• Ability to communicate effectively and follow detailed instructions
• Physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds and perform tasks in various environments
