Position Summary
The Land Analyst plays a critical role in supporting the LEAD department by leading financial modeling, cost analysis, strategic analysis, and market research to evaluate land acquisition and development opportunities. This role ensures that land-related investments are assessed accurately, aligned with strategic goals, and executed with financial discipline.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Build and maintain financial models to evaluate land investments and develop partnerships.
- Cook up with Finance and external partners to ensure timely delivery of documents and responses related to off-balance sheet land holdings.
- Analyze development budgets and actual costs to ensure alignment with financial expectations.
- Maintain internal land tracking systems and support improvements to land portfolio tools.
- Conduct market research and competitor tracking to inform land strategy and pricing.
- Support strategic planning through scenario modeling and forecasting.
- Aid in identifying and evaluating potential new markets for company expansion.
- Coordinate due diligence activities and summarize key risks and findings for leadership.
- Maintain organized records of due diligence documentation and deal status.
- Collaborate with Finance to ensure accurate budget and cash flow planning.
- Aid in reviewing and revising land contracts with the Acquisition and Legal teams.
- Recommend process improvements and support tool development (e.g., GIS, evaluators).
Qualifications And Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field (preferred)
- 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis and modeling across multiple projects or roles
- Experience in Excel-based modeling, scenario analysis, and presenting financial insights to decision makers
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Must be at least 21 years of age to drive a company vehicle
Work Environment And Physical Requirements
- Works in a temperature-controlled office environment with low noise levels
- Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit in a vehicle
- Occasionally required to lift, pull, and push objects up to 10 pounds
