About the role
A semi-skilled, entry-level position that laminates composite components following drawings and Standard Work Instructions (SWI). Requires little or no prior experience; training is provided on the job. Works under close supervision with minimal autonomy.
Responsibilities
- Lay-up composite materials on mandrels according to the manufacturing plan and SWI instructions.
- Wrap molds with composite materials in preparation for the curing process to form composite parts.
- Verify accuracy of prior manufacturing documentation; report discrepancies and schedule concerns to the supervisor.
- Confirm materials used match the manufacturing plan.
- Verify part ID tag and sign off on work performed.
- Adhere to production schedules, takt time, and time allowances.
Requirements
- Ability to read and follow detailed instructions and demonstrated steps.
- Acute attention to detail and excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- One year of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred; composite manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Basic math skills and understanding of process specifications are preferred.
- Basic computer skills.
Working Conditions
- Indoor production environment; may not be temperature-controlled.
- Exposure to loud noise, contaminants, and hazardous equipment.
- Shared workspaces with other employees.
- Frequent handling of objects up to 50 lbs, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and bending.
- Standing and/or walking for 8 to 12 or more hours per day, depending on shift and overtime.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Required PPE is provided by SEKISUI Aerospace and must be worn on the production floor:
- Ear plugs or ear muffs
- Full face shield
- Gloves (latex, rubber, chemical resistant, or general duty)
- Protective apron
- Respirator
- Safety glasses or safety goggles
