About the role
The Business Analyst / LabWare LIMS Analyst Developer will support and enhance LabWare LIMS v8, API integrations, workflow optimization, reporting, and laboratory informatics initiatives. This role works closely with scientists, the LIMS Supervisor, laboratory leadership, and testing personnel to gather requirements, implement system enhancements, improve workflows, support integrations, and ensure effective laboratory information management.
Responsibilities
- Support and enhance LabWare LIMS v8.
- Support API integrations.
- Provide HL7 integration architecture, development, enhancement, testing, and support.
- Maintain working knowledge of LabWare LIMS v8.
- Collaborate with LIMS analysts and laboratory leadership on LIMS priorities, data security, and informatics initiatives.
- Program, troubleshoot, and enhance system functionality.
- Recommend and implement solutions to improve system performance.
- Gather and document business and technical requirements.
- Translate user needs into business and technical requirements.
- Create user stories and test scripts.
- Perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Develop workflow documentation and process documentation.
- Collect and document data requirements.
- Create workflow diagrams.
- Train end users on system functionality.
- Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Support reporting and laboratory informatics initiatives.
- Work with relational databases and SQL for data retrieval.
- Support multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Requirements
- Business analysis experience.
- Experience programming, implementing, and maintaining complex software systems.
- SQL and relational database experience.
- Experience gathering and documenting requirements.
- Experience evaluating and testing software functionality.
- Ability to determine user needs and translate them into business and technical requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Experience creating user stories and test scripts.
- Experience performing User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Experience developing workflow and technical documentation.
- Experience training end users.
- Experience working with complex information technology software.
- Knowledge of standard health data formats (HL7, XML, CCDA, LOINC, SNOMED CT, ICD-10).
- Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Lucid for documentation and reporting.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Team-oriented with strong collaboration skills.
- Degree in Epidemiology, Laboratory Science, Computer Science, or Informatics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with LabWare LIMS.
- Laboratory Informatics background.
- Public Health Laboratory experience.
- Experience supporting laboratory information management systems (LIMS) for Infectious Disease, Toxicology, and/or Environmental Chemistry laboratories.
- Experience performing queries in LabWare LIMS.
- Experience modifying minor coding issues in LabWare LIMS.
- Experience with Crystal Reports and customized report settings.
- Knowledge of laboratory methodologies and processes.
- Knowledge of Environmental Chemistry laboratory processes.
- Knowledge of Infectious Disease laboratory processes.
- Understanding of laboratory quality and regulatory requirements.
