Labourer
About the role
Labourers assist with the day-to-day operations of Willowlee Sod Farms in relation to the manufacturing, harvesting, sale, and installation of sod, seed, and hydroseed. Labourers are also responsible for the upkeep and general cleanliness of all equipment, vehicles, and tools used in day-to-day activities, and must represent themselves and the company in a professional manner.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of job sites
- Installation of sod, seed, and fertilizer
- Clean up and general jobsite tidiness
- Upkeep and cleanliness of tools and crew truck
- Supporting Willowlee Winter Operations
- General farm and office maintenance
- Other duties as assigned
While primarily focused on installation, labourers may be asked to support other areas of the business as required. Training will be provided for any tasks outside the normal scope of work.
Requirements
- Valid G License or equivalent
- Clean driver’s abstract
- Own PPE (Safety Boots)
- Ability to lift 60 lbs
Working Conditions
The work environment is fast-paced and ever-changing. Employees are required to work outside for extended periods in varying weather conditions to support customer and business needs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to start early and lift up to 60 lbs frequently throughout the day
- Combination of standing, kneeling, and repetitious lifting and turning
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
