About the role
Warehouse worker responsible for shipping, receiving, and expediting materials; loading and unloading materials from trucks with a forklift; pulling material and preparing it for shipment; processing paperwork for received and shipped materials; running reports and entering data into Excel spreadsheets; and using Microsoft Office programs extensively.
Responsibilities
- Receive items, verify against packing slips, and enter into the computer system with accurate material counts.
- Unpack delivered goods and store in appropriate locations until issued.
- Notify and deliver received items to the appropriate department.
- Maintain inventory control through continuous tracking and inventory updates with reports.
- Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other areas.
- Use identification tags or labeling equipment to mark all goods.
- Perform housekeeping duties to clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas in compliance with safety regulations.
- Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and facility capabilities.
- Keep records on the use and/or damage of stock or stock handling equipment.
- Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.
- Assist maintenance, operators, projects, and anyone entering the warehouse.
Requirements
- Must meet all physical requirements of the role.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be organized and capable of completing accurate counts on received items.
- Must have good communication skills, including the ability to read and write effectively.
- Must be familiar with basic computer operations.
- Must be able to follow directions.
Physical Requirements
- Adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting.
- Use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
- May be required to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
- Work in various weather environments (hot, cold, dusty).
- Work at slight heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms using appropriate fall protection.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, FRC clothing, and leather work boots.
