About the role
We’re seeking a reliable and safety-focused Laborer / Serviceman to support maintenance and production activities across our plant. This entry-level role is critical to keeping operations running efficiently through hands-on work, cleanup, and maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities
- Follow all safety rules, wear PPE, and report equipment or safety concerns.
- Perform trenching, digging, backfilling, shoveling, sweeping, and cleanup work.
- Assist with maintenance work, concrete form building, painting, and general housekeeping.
- Lubricate and oil equipment; support maintenance teams and respond to callouts.
- Attend meetings and training sessions. Support other classifications and plant outage work.
- Complete any tasks assigned by management to support plant operations.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Four years of general plant experience or six years of cement plant experience if joining from outside the company.
- Proficiency in control systems and computer applications.
- Strong communication skills and mechanical aptitude; ability to read diagrams.
- Mathematical ability related to production measurements.
- Strong decision-making and safety awareness.
Working Conditions
- Must comply with all safety standards and always wear appropriate PPE.
- Work in outdoor and indoor environments with exposure to physical labor and harsh conditions (extreme heat, humidity, extreme cold, noise, dust).
- Heavy lifting (up to 100 lbs. occasionally, 50 lbs. frequently, 20 lbs. constantly), climbing, standing, shoveling, walking, pushing, pulling, and operating tools and mobile equipment.
- Must be physically able to perform all essential job functions, including communicating verbally using a phone and radio, hearing verbal commands and audible alarms.
- Must pass a physical exam including back x-ray, vision test, hearing test, functional capability evaluation, respiratory fit test, and drug/alcohol screen.
Schedule
Employees are expected to work varying shifts as needed, which may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays to meet operational needs.
