About the role

The Laborer Production, Associate assists in disassembly of cushioning units, snubbers, or yokes while complying with and following all work instructions, safety and quality requirements, and ensuring all company guidelines and safety rules are followed when performing duties.

Responsibilities

• Complies with The Association of American Railroads regulations, quality assurance standards, and Greenbrier Rail Services Environmental Health and Safety policies
• Disassembles and reassembles cushioning units, snubbers, or yokes
• Performs assigned tasks under the direction of Supervisor and notifies Supervisor of materials and equipment needed to complete job tasks
• Interacts with Supervisor and crew members in a team environment
• Complies with special processes assigned, based on work orders

Requirements

• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while ensuring attention to detail
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools such as hammers, tape measure, screwdrivers, wrenches, and die grinder, impact, and cut off wheel
• Ability to work and communicate within a team setting

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: As listed in the Requirements section
• Preferred Qualifications: One or more years’ work experience in a manufacturing environment

Work Environment

The work environment requires the employee to work in hot and cold environments, in and out of the weather, work safely around heavy equipment and on top of and under railcars, as well as around railroad tracks. Employees are required to use personal protective equipment such as steel toe boots, hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, welding and grinding shields, etc. or as environmental conditions dictate.
