Essential Functions
- Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in mining/heavy construction projects
- Operate light machinery and equipment/hand tools as required in a safe and efficient way
- Operate basic hand tools such as saws, shovels, rakes, etc.
- Operate basic power tools such as plate compactors, cement mixers, etc.
- Maintain a clean job site: picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards
- Provide manual labor assistance on various tasks and assignments
- Use hand-held mobile radio units to coordinate tasks and resources
- Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures
- Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures
- Help identify hazardous conditions on the job site
- Perform other related duties as required
- Dispose of garbage according to set policies and procedures
- Report any damage immediately to supervisor
- A valid driver license
- 6 months of prior experience as a laborer on remote construction
- High School Diploma or GED
- Three or more years’ experience as a laborer on remote construction
- MSHA certification
- Knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
- Knowledge of and ability to maintain equipment and follow related procedures
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor
- Ability to communicate information in writing so others will understand
- Ability to effectively understand and communicate verbally with others
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to work independently or as a team member successfully
- Ability to ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed
- Ability to meet project schedule with dependability and consistency
- Ability to wear protective clothing
