About the role
The role involves performing tasks involving physical labor at highway and heavy construction projects. Duties include operating a variety of hand and power tools, cleaning and preparing sites, digging trenches, setting braces, erecting scaffolding, cleaning up rubble and debris, and removing waste materials.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy/highway construction projects
- Prepare sites to ensure optimization of construction work procedures
- Clean construction sites of debris, trash, and construction materials
- Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic/gas tampers, or rakes
- Clean and maintain construction equipment appropriately
- Provide assistance to Foremen and other supervisors as needed
- Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials

Qualifications
- Education And/or Experience: Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
- Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions.
- Knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, proper and safe use of equipment, materials and supplies used in heavy/highway construction work.
- Work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
- Lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
- Meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
