Laborer Full-time

Overview

The Laborer is responsible for performing mainly physical laborer duties to support the Facilities Maintenance (FM) functions of the organization. Working with customers from the U.S. military, commercial business and community partners – as well as federal, state and local governments – GCE is one of the country’s largest private employers of persons with disabilities.

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must be able to comprehend both written and/or verbal instructions.
• Must be able to work overtime and be on call as required in support of FM operations.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license in the state they reside, have a satisfactory driving record, and be insurable under the corporate policy.
• Must be able to meet eligibility requirements for work assignment on the specified contract(s).
• Must be able to pass organization screening requirements, including state or federal background screenings as appropriate.

Additional Duties

• Load and unload trucks and other conveyances;
• Move supplies and materials to the proper location by wheelbarrow or hand truck;
• Stack materials for storage or binning;
• Collect refuse and salvageable materials;
• Dig, fill, and tamp earth excavations.

Physical Requirements

• May travel to and from various locations and buildings throughout the year and in various weather conditions.
• May work with cleaning chemicals.
• Will be required to follow the Emergency Operations Work Assignment per customer requirements.
• Schedules are subject to change.
• May require working early morning, mid-morning, afternoon, and/or evening hours as well as weekends and holidays.
• While performing this job's duties, the team member is regularly required to bend, crouch, walk, climb stairs and ladders, reach above head, sit (to drive), and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Will occasionally be required to lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Physical Demands, Environmental Factors, and Safety Guidelines

• May require following safety guidelines.
• Properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow safety guidelines.

Other Duties

• Be responsible for maximizing existing resources to support departmental budget requirements.
• Attend and successfully complete all mandatory training requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
