Laborer
Role And Responsibilities
Aid with specialized craft activities, such as fabrication, welding, installation, or maintenance of industrial systems under the guidance of skilled craftsmen.
Transport and handle materials, tools, and equipment efficiently, ensuring all necessary resources are readily available for the team.
Prepare materials for use by cutting, grinding, or shaping components as directed by supervisors.
Assist with the installation and assembly of industrial systems or machinery, such as piping, electrical systems, or equipment.
Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and industrial machinery to complete tasks under supervision.
Mix, pour, and apply materials like concrete, mortar, or epoxy coatings to surfaces.
Assist in the assembly and disassembly of scaffolding and other temporary structures needed for specialized work.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and guidelines by using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and reporting any hazards to supervisors.
Perform quality checks on work tasks to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Clean and maintain tools, machinery, and work areas, ensuring they are ready for use.
Assist in training or mentoring less experienced Laborer I team members.
Support the team in troubleshooting and addressing basic issues with materials, tools, or equipment.
Perform other tasks as assigned by project supervisors.
Qualifications And Education Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
2+ years of experience in an industrial or construction environment, with some exposure to specialized craft work.
Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and other industrial equipment.
Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints or project plans.
Knowledge of basic industrial safety practices and ability to follow safety guidelines.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a team.
Good physical endurance and the ability to perform manual labor tasks.
Must be able to lift heavy materials, work in confined spaces, and handle a variety of work environments.
Preferred Skills
Experience in a specialized craft area (e.g., refractory, fabrication, scaffolding).
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
Basic first aid or CPR certification.
Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision when required.
Physical Requirements
Work is primarily performed on construction job sites, exposed to outdoor elements and varying weather conditions.
Must be able to work in confined spaces or elevated areas depending on the project.
Physical labor may be required, including the ability to lift and move equipment or materials.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times for safety.
Flexibility to work extended hours or on weekends as project schedules require.
