About the Role

Perform any combination of various basic tasks associated with the operation of the custom metal fabrication shop in a safe and quality manner with the best quality possible.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Shop Superintendent, Fabricators, and Fabrication Shop Helpers to ensure daily and project-related production needs are met safely and efficiently by assisting with various tasks.
• Safely and efficiently operate all fabrication shop equipment such as mechanical shears, press brakes, rollers, ironworkers, drill presses, saws, and forklifts.
• Take direction and effectively communicate with supervisors based on project needs.
• Think creatively and apply results to safely and efficiently complete tasks.
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
• Maintain work area in a clean and tidy manner.
• Prepare shop for upcoming projects, assist with fabrication shop tasks as directed, unload and load material, and clean work areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be able to read, write, and communicate clearly with supervisors/co-workers and understand direction from supervisors.
• Must be able to utilize basic math and read a tape measure.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand, and reach repetitively.
• Ability to work in hot, cold, damp, or cramped environments.
• Willingness to work 40 or more hours per week with possible weekend work.
• Pass a background check and drug screen based on job location/requirements.
