Laborer
About the role
A skilled craft worker is an essential cog in the wheel of any Superior Construction project. Qualified applicants will have experience working on Heavy Civil, Roadway or Bridge Projects. Applicant must be familiar with working from heights and/or Manlifts.
Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy/highway construction projects.
- Maintains a clean and well-organized job site: properly store consumable materials, picks up debris and waste for proper disposal, maintains equipment appearance and secures/stores small tools and supplies.
- Helps Foremen and other Supervisors as needed.
- Laborers may be required to assist with traffic control and/or flagging operations.
- Properly secure and store all tools, equipment, and materials at the end of each work day.
- Understand and comply with all Company Safety policies and procedures as well as OSHA Regulations.
- Assists with loading and unloading trucks & deliveries.
Qualifications
- Must adhere to OSHA safety protocol and work in a drug-free environment.
- Must be reliable/have reliable transportation.
- Preferred: Construction industry experience.
- Takes full ownership of assigned projects and can work independently.
Supervisory Requirements
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
- This is field based role.
- Employee will be working on heavy civil and highway construction sites.
- The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
- The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
- The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multilimbed coordination.
- The position requires excellent stamina.
Physical Demands
- The position lifts heavy objects, walks, and stands for long periods and performs physical labor under adverse field conditions.
- The employee lifts, pushes, pulls, or carries objects and uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
Required Education and Experience
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment.
