About the Role

Responsible for working alongside other craft workers in physical labor on jobsites and potentially operating various types of equipment while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient construction site and supporting the overall project.

This role offers nationwide opportunities based on project needs. You’ll travel across the US (up to 100%) to help build medium and/or high voltage electrical construction projects, with assignments lasting 1–10 months on average. In addition to hourly pay, you’ll receive a daily per diem to assist with living expenses while on assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and comply with all company and safety policies and procedures.
  • Work hands-on with installation and assist crew members with physical tasks (e.g., loading reels, fueling equipment, threading equipment).
  • Operate hand tools, lift up to 50 lbs, load materials, hand-compact soil, and assist in installing underground utilities.
  • Assist with threading equipment, handling, and placement of cables and/or conduit per project requirements.
  • Clean and prepare work locations to eliminate potential hazards.
  • Gather and manage materials, consumables, and waste product from the jobsite onto trucks using various pieces of equipment.
  • Hand-excavate trenches and remove, fill, or compact native materials.
  • Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads, and provide hand or audio signals to operators/crew members.
  • Communicate clearly, listen, and understand information through spoken words and sentences to ensure comprehension of job duties, safety regulations, and immediate-response situations.
  • Turn valves to control air and water output of compressors and pumps.
  • Perform maintenance duties such as cleaning, greasing, and oiling machines; complete maintenance reports daily.
  • All other duties as assigned by superintendent or foreman.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Six to twelve months of related experience in construction or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Equipment operator certifications as required per equipment being operated.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred.
  • Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety by working toward safety principles.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using units of weight, measurement, and volume.
  • Understand units of force, pressure, and torque and apply appropriate tooling adjustments.
  • Carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards.
  • Working knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in structural fills, DOT, and other public/private entities.
  • Judge distances and slopes accurately and make decisions based on verifiable standards.
