About the role

The general laborer performs a variety of tasks during their probationary period, including department housekeeping, observing and working in various workstations, and training on assigned machinery. During the probationary period, the laborer will bid into specific job openings within the facility.
This is a 24/7 union environment; days, hours, and shifts worked are determined by seniority. A primary responsibility of this position is to adhere to all food safety, quality, safety, and environmental regulations and programs, including company, federal, and state guidelines, to ensure a safe work environment and drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Perform tasks such as cleaning, sweeping, sanitizing, cleaning bins, unloading packaging material, supplying fill stations with packing materials, labels, or boxes, and making trash bales.
- Fill paper bags with salt, guide them through a sewing head to seal them, and palletize the finished products.
- Drive a forklift to move product within the facility.
- Assist workers of higher classification in performing their tasks.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
