Laborer

About the role

Mega Contracting Group, LLC is seeking full-time Laborers for Astoria, NY. This position involves repairs and maintenance of a construction site, including keeping the building safe and clean, debris removal, and other tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Move, secure, install, build, load or unload materials as directed
• Clean up rubble, debris and other waste materials to eliminate hazards
• Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day to eliminate potential hazards
• Lift heavy loads up to 75 lbs. and navigate through construction site
• Load and unload trucks
• Material handling and storage
• Provide labor support
• Dig pits, trenches and foundations in preparation for job site
• Back-fill trenches and pits when necessary
• Direct traffic when necessary to ensure safety of pedestrians, motorists, and work crew
• Knowledge of power tools and their uses

Requirements

• 40-hr Site Safety Training (SST) card
• Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely
• Able to work independently as well as part of an effective team
• Able to understand and follow written and oral instructions
• Attention to detail
• Punctual and reliable
• Must be physically able to perform heavy construction work
• Excellent written and communication skills

Pay and Schedule

This position offers a salary of $22 per hour, working a full-time schedule with shifts available on weekdays and weekends.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general labor and construction work, with the ability to lift at least 75 lbs. and work in various weather conditions. Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not required.

Skills

Strong physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential. Familiarity with power tools and safety protocols is also important.
