Position Summary

The labor position is the entry-level role at the plant, primarily focused on cleaning and maintaining the facility to ensure safe and productive operations.

Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Perform general manual labor duties at plants, offices, yards, and quarries, including repetitive heavy lifting, shoveling, handwork, climbing, and working at various heights.
  • Assist with equipment operation and servicing using basic tools such as shovels, brooms, and wheelbarrows.
  • Clean and dispose of waste materials, debris, and residue from multiple plant locations, including limehouses, roofs, silos, kilns, mills, conveyors, crushers, and storage areas.
  • Fill in or operate equipment and assist operators as assigned.
  • Assist with drilling, blasting, maintenance, repair, and installation of machinery and equipment.
  • Perform oiling, greasing, lubricating, and servicing of mobile and stationary equipment.
  • Conduct general landscape work, such as cutting grass, trimming bushes, and maintaining hedges.
  • Clean out and re-brick kilns.
  • Load and unload railcars, trucks, and other vehicles as assigned.
  • Operate a forklift safely and efficiently.
  • Report operational or safety problems to supervision and comply with company, state, and governmental health and safety regulations.
  • Operate water trucks, sweepers, or vacuum trucks when needed.
  • Ensure a Safe Quality Food (SQF) workplace and comply with regulatory requirements under the Federal FDA Food Modernization Safety Act (CFR Code of Federal Regulations Title 21, Part 507).
  • Support Environmental Health and Safety and SQF initiatives, participate in audits, and complete periodic SQF training.

  • Capable of working shift work, overtime, or seven days a week when needed.
  • Able to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Capable of performing essential job duties and adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work as a team member and independently.

Physical Demands

  • Physically able to perform assigned work, including accessing all plant locations.
  • Ability to work at heights up to 150 feet, in confined spaces, and on ladders, stairs, or tunnels.
  • Exposure to extreme heat and cold, noise, vibration, oils, dust, fumes, and lime/mineral particles.
  • Frequent actions include standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing, and sitting.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience in an industrial processing and packaging environment.
