Key Responsibilities

• Prepare areas for the placement of concrete by final excavation of dirt and rock and fine grading for floor slabs.
• Assemble concrete forms, lifting form prefabricated metal form panels and assisting in their placement.
• Handle the concrete bucket suspended from a crane to transfer concrete from the truck to the placement area.
• Muck the concrete in slabs to spread it evenly after pouring.
• Assist in stripping concrete forms and transporting them for storage after the concrete has cured.
• Aid concrete finishers in moving power trowels and power screeds used to finish the concrete surface.
• Support block masons in handling and transporting bags of cement, lime, sand, and grout, stocking blocks and bricks.
• Assist carpenters in handling and setting door frames.
• Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools.
• Distribute site materials to the appropriate locations according to project plans and specifications.
• Ensure the site is swept and well maintained.
• Promote a safe work environment and communicate jobsite hazards.
• Secure the jobsite at the end of business each day and verify proper storage of site materials.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Driver’s License
• Follow safe work practices in accordance with the Hensel Phelps safety and health program
• Take initiative and ask questions
• Possess a keen attention to detail and follow instructions
• Provide own safety footwear
• Communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers and stakeholders
• Strong mathematical reasoning and quantitative skills
• Reliable and punctual
• Experience in construction layout, blueprint reading, and shop drawing reading
• OSHA 10 Certification
• CPR & First Aid Certification

Physical Requirements

• Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Frequent walking, kneeling, sitting, crouching, reaching, standing, and finger typing.
• Periodic climbing, balancing, stooping, bending, and using hands and wrists with various tools.
• Exposure to high and low temperatures, noisy environments, outdoor elements, dusts, and chemicals.
