Laborer

Purpose

Provide general labor services to warehouse, paint shop, mechanical, welding and electrical personnel as needed.

Typical Activities

• Loads, transports and unloads materials, supplies and equipment.
• Performs clean-up and minor repair tasks.
• Cleans work area.
• Operates fork truck and other small equipment.
• Operates shop tools as needed to assist work in assigned areas.
• Performs other general laborer tasks as directed.

Working Conditions

• Working indoor and outside;
• Working in a dusty, noisy environment;
• Working with hand and small power tools.

Qualifications

• Must be able to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form.
• Must be able to use or hand tools and small power tools.
• Requires constant exertion of 10 to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push or pull objects; frequent exertion of 25 to 50 pounds of force; and occasional exertion of 50 to 100 pounds of force.
• The worker must be able to move around on foot; walk on uneven surfaces; stand constantly on a hard surface; reach; bend; climb; kneel.
• The dexterous use of both hand and both arms is required to operate the tools and equipment used in the work.
• Must be able to see well naturally or with correction and must be able to perform the work without posing a direct threat to her/himself and/or others.
