Laborer - Asphalt Paving

Responsibilities

• Digs out and prepares areas, removes old pavement, cleans surfaces, and applies tack oil for bonding.
• Shovels, spreads, rakes, and smooths hot asphalt to proper grade and thickness.
• Matches and finishes fresh asphalt joints, ensuring a smooth, well-knit surface between roller passes.
• Uses hand tools (rakes, shovels, tampers) and operates equipment like plate compactors, pavement saws, and brooms.
• Cleans up work sites, clears spilled asphalt, and maintains tools and equipment at the end of the shift.
• Guides and directs dump trucks while backing;
• Receives and accumulates delivery tickets;
• Flags traffic and assists in traffic control to enhance and promote a safe work zone.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED.
• Prior construction or paving experience preferred but not required.
• Possesses a strong work ethic, teamwork and respect to all individuals.
• Able and willing to follow verbal instructions.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license, have an acceptable driving record, and have reliable transportation.
• Must be able to work overtime, nights, and weekends, as projects demand.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test as well as random tests if selected during employment.
