Position Summary
At Craig Hospital, we recognize that compassionate support and clinical excellence go hand-in-hand. The Patient Transport & Phlebotomy Specialist plays a crucial role in providing safe and dignified patient transport services, executing phlebotomy duties, and supporting integrated care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, efficient, and safe transport of Craig Hospital patients between Craig and Swedish Medical Center, while observing for any changes in condition during transit.
- Collaborate with nursing, respiratory therapy, and other interdisciplinary staff to coordinate transport logistics and meet individualized care needs.
- Execute safe patient handling, padding, and transfers in accordance with Craig Hospital protocols and best practices.
- Demonstrate expertise in phlebotomy, including venipuncture techniques and specimen collection, while adhering to infection control and patient safety standards.
- Accurately process and prepare lab specimens for shipment or internal analysis, following established guidelines and using appropriate equipment.
- Communicate clearly with physicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals to relay diagnostic information and support continuity of care.
- Maintain thorough, accurate documentation through electronic health records and data entry platforms.
- Exhibit excellent organizational and time-management skills, balancing multiple priorities while ensuring timely transport and lab processing.
- Uphold strict confidentiality standards in all aspects of patient interaction and data management.
- Serve as a calm and responsive presence during crisis situations, enacting emergency protocols when needed.
- Actively engage in training and competency assessments, maintaining full compliance with annual requirements and departmental procedures.
- Promote a culture of safety, respect, and teamwork in all interactions with patients, families, and staff.
Qualifications
- Licensure & Certification: Current BLS certification with the American Heart Association (required)
- Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) credential (preferred)
- Education: High school diploma or GED (required)
- Experience: One year of direct patient care or nurse assistant experience (preferred)
- One year of phlebotomy experience in a clinical setting (Required)
