LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST

About the role

The Laboratory Technologist will perform a variety of tasks including specimen procurement, processing, and analysis. They will also manage inventory, perform quality control, and interact with healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

• Procure, prepare, and process specimens using various techniques and procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy and verify specimen appropriateness and documentation.
• Validate test orders and ensure specimen integrity.
• Package specimens for transport and maintain supplies at adequate levels.
• Perform technical assays, evaluate results, and document quality control data.
• Interpret laboratory results and communicate findings to healthcare providers.
• Assist in the evaluation and development of new methods and instruments.
• Report critical values and adhere to environmental control plans.

Requirements

• Associate of Science or higher-level degree in a relevant field.
• CLIA 88 certification for high complexity testing.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory information systems.
• Functional skills in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting CLIA 88 requirements.
• Prior experience within a clinical laboratory.
• ASCP certification preferred.
