Laboratory Technician-Petroleum - Signal Hill, CA

About the role

The Laboratory Technician will perform various chemical and physical tests based on ASTM methods or industry standards in multiple test areas. They will assist with equipment calibration, maintenance, quality control, and basic troubleshooting. Responsibilities also include cleaning glassware and test equipment, preparing reagents, recording data, and maintaining quality records.

Responsibilities

• Perform numerous chemical and physical tests based on ASTM methods or accepted industry standards in multiple test areas
• Assist with equipment calibration, maintenance, quality and basic troubleshooting
• Clean glassware and test equipment
• Absorb reagents as needed
• Record data on appropriate data sheets and reports
• Data entry into LIMS system
• Maintain quality records, control charts, and lab supply inventories
• Comply with safety, quality, and housekeeping requirements
• Participate in cross training as needed

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Prefer successful completion of at least one semester of college level chemistry
• Prior work experience in a laboratory environment
• Demonstrate ability to multi-task in high production testing areas
• Demonstrate excellent team communication, coordination, and cooperation
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to work overtime as business needs dictate

Qualifications

• Chemistry or Science courses, at a college level
• Some experience in petroleum testing industry
• GC Experience
• Experience with Octane Engines

Pay

The base wage or salary range for this position is $25.00 to $30.00 per hour. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 0800-1700, with after hours and weekend on-call schedule, as needed.
