Laboratory Technician - Overnight

As a Laboratory Technician at IDEXX, you perform laboratory testing that helps veterinarians diagnose and treat pets. Responsibilities

• Use automated analyzers, microscopes, and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment.
• Perform diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal, or pet biopsy samples received in the lab by the thousands daily.
• Set up and run lab tests, then read and release results according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Specialize in either the Sample Management or Parasitology departments.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• A 2-, 3-, or 4-year degree in a Science-related field is preferred but not required.
• Experience as a Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT) is a plus.
• Experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting, and/or clinical diagnostic analyzers) is ideal.
• Positive attitude and ability to bring energy to support colleagues.
• Strong teamwork orientation and responsibility.
• Attention to detail and ability to work reliably and precisely.
• Ability to meet physical requirements: standing and sitting for extended periods, phone and computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50 lbs, and specific vision abilities (close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus).
• Potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.

Schedule

• Tuesday through Saturday, Midnight - 8:30 AM.
• Every-third weekend rotation; when working a weekend day, you will receive a day off during the week to ensure a 5-day workweek.
• Shifts and hours may vary slightly depending on business needs.
• Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.
