Job Description/Responsibilities

  • Evaluates ingredients and finished products to ensure both meet specifications.
  • Performs quality audits and provides feedback to frontline team members on quality results and performance.
  • Participates in and leads problem solving activities.
  • Ensures activities, processes, and products are compliant with government agencies' regulatory requirements including OSHA, TTB, and EPA.
  • Works with internal and external customers by ensuring all quality and food safety systems are followed and properly documented.
  • Helps identify issues with internal or external customer service and works to put corrective actions in place.
  • Serves as a professional and friendly point of contact between vendors and Buffalo Trace Distillery.
  • Participates in writing, organizing and updating lab procedures.
  • Follows all work instructions and provides feedback on laboratory specifications.
  • Aids in cleaning and organizing the lab.
  • Provides input for lab design efficiency, ergonomics, and safety.
  • Audits and provides feedback on quality checks and procedures being performed by front line members.
  • Provides feedback and supports process improvements at the department level.
  • Participates as a member of the internal quality/food safety audit team.
  • Champions formalized problem solving methods.
  • Participates and leads problem solving activities to standardize and improve processes.
  • Promotes key quality and food safety improvement areas and helps drive process improvements.
  • Develops a PDS for self-development that emphasizes improvement in at least one competency per year and better performance against position description outcomes.
  • Develops a career plan to achieve career development and/or advancement.
  • Supports the quality organization and the broader operation in achieving operational excellence through championing problem solving, implementing sustainable processes, and identifying opportunities for operational improvements.
  • Maintains solid professional working relationships both inside and outside the company.
  • Sets a positive example and acts in a manner consistent with company values.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Ability to communicate with all levels of an org.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Chemistry or related degree.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills.
  • Laboratory/QC or related experience.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Products (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Strong analytical and technical skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time.
  • 2 Year Degree Required.
  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to pick up and/or move objects up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Distinguish flavors through taste and smell.
  • Ability to work in fumes or airborne particles conditions.
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Noise level at work station is moderate (business office with computer printers).
  • Ability to work 8 hour shift.
  • Ability to work overtime if necessary.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and write.
