Laboratory Technician

Primary Responsibilities

• Optimize lab procedures and succeed in producing reliable and important results that can be used to make a difference.
• Responsible for handling sensitive equipment to analyze samples or substances and conduct tests reporting findings to a laboratory manager.
• Receive, label and analyze samples (blood, toxic, tissue etc.).
• Design and execute laboratory testing according standard procedures, make observations and interpret findings.
• Conduct experiments under defined conditions to verify/reject various types of hypotheses using refined scientific methods.
• Organize and store all chemicals substances, fluids and compressed gases according to safety instructions.
• Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility.
• Maintain equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies.
• Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderly environment.

Qualifications

• Education: Degree in related discipline (Chemistry, Biology, etc.) and/or equivalent work experience.
• Knowledge of complex laboratory techniques, equipment, terminology, materials and substances.
• Skilled in the use of laboratory equipment, ability to create and analyze statistical calculations and prepare reports required.
• Must have: English language skills, can independently execute data entry from multiple sources, eye for detail, basic office 365 skills, able to report data sets, critical/problem solving mindset, knowledge and experience with laboratory testing procedures, lab safety behaviors and techniques, ability to follow scientific laboratory SOPs, basic computer skills & typing and experience using Microsoft programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook email), ability to follow a written SOP, ability to use a barcode scanner.
