Laboratory Technician
About the role
The Laboratory Technician, Biomarkers Protein Lab is a member of the Neuroscience Precision Biomarkers team. This role focuses on creating and validating assays, executing them, planning experiments, and implementing immunoassays on clinical samples. The position involves maintaining equipment, ensuring laboratory safety, identifying problems, and completing regular evaluations. Additionally, the role includes tracking biological/medical samples and performing immunoassays on platforms such as plate ELISA, Simoa, Meso Scale, and NuLisa.
The scientific focus of this role is developing biochemical biomarkers for disease diagnosis and stratification, measurement of target engagement, disease progression, and safety in the fields of Neuropsychiatry and Neurodegeneration.
Responsibilities
- Act as a highly trained individual contributor by independently conducting and interpreting the translation of research to human clinical trials.
- Lead lab-based translational medicine projects.
- Contribute to clinical research studies, including data analysis and quality control, and support study design and protocol development.
- Support the identification of appropriate biomarkers.
- Monitor proper recording of information and review information to draw appropriate conclusions.
- Understand and apply Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives in day-to-day interactions with the team.
Requirements
- Minimum of a basic degree (B.S.) in Science, Engineering, or related technical subjects, with 5+ years of postgraduate work experience.
- A MA/MS with 3+ years of experience in a Biological/Chemistry discipline is preferred but not required.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Excellent computer proficiency (e.g., MS Office: Outlook, Excel, Word; GraphPad Prism).
- Strong analytical skills to identify gaps, root causes of issues, and develop innovative solutions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision to meet tight deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD.
- Experience with SIMOA and NULISA.
