Laboratory Technician

Responsibilities

  • Conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests to assist scientists in making qualitative and quantitative analyses of solids, liquids, and gaseous materials.
  • Optimize lab procedures and produce reliable and important results that contribute to product development, quality control, and environmental standards.
  • Handle sensitive equipment to analyze samples or substances and report findings to a laboratory manager.
  • Receive, label, and analyze samples (blood, toxic, tissue, etc.), design and execute laboratory testing according to standard procedures, make observations, and interpret findings.
  • Conduct experiments under defined conditions to verify/reject various types of hypotheses using refined scientific methods.
  • Organize and store all chemicals, substances, fluids, and compressed gases according to safety instructions.
  • Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility.
  • Maintain equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies.
  • Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderly environment.

    Requirements

    • Degree in related discipline (Chemistry, Biology, etc.) and/or equivalent work experience.
    • Knowledge of complex laboratory techniques, equipment, terminology, materials, and substances.
    • Skilled in the use of laboratory equipment, able to create and analyze statistical calculations, and prepare reports.
    • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
    • An analytical mindset.
    • Proactive problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Able to follow scientific laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Aseptic Sampling System One certification.
