About the role
Binghamton University's Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Division of Physical Therapy, located at the newly renovated, state-of-the art health sciences campus in Johnson City, New York, is hiring for a Laboratory Technician for the Motion Analysis Research Laboratory (MARL).
Responsibilities
- Prepare laboratory hardware and materials for research subjects.
- Responsibility for laboratory equipment – including maintenance, regular calibration and updating of hardware and software, system checks, organizing for servicing or repair as needed.
- Managing the stock levels of consumables.
- Maintaining inventory and tracking of remote monitoring devices.
- Delivery of high-quality data collections and processing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related scientific discipline, with prior work experience related to biomechanical data capture.
- Knowledge of motion capture systems and associated software (Vicon preferred).
- Ability to learn new software quickly, troubleshoot data collection/computer related issues, and provide a high attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and the Google Suite of products.
- Certified in the use of programming languages (e.g. MATLAB, Python).
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
Qualifications
- Research experience and practical knowledge of the motion analysis principles are required whether through prior internship, research studies, or work experience.
- The successful candidate must be flexible and possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- On the job, the candidate must demonstrate knowledge of universal precautions and safety guidelines, with the ability to handle confidential information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred.
