Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory tests and analyses under the direction of a lab supervisor or scientist
- Examine samples for validity and other requirements
- Pipette specimens with high accuracy and precision
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment according to standard operating procedures
- Prepare reagents and materials for testing
- Maintain inventory of supplies and reagents
- Document remedial actions, troubleshoot, and perform quality assurance activities
- Adhere to established processing timelines
- Enter data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
- Label and deliver samples to appropriate areas
- Retrieve and refile samples for testing
- Store specimens for short and long-term storage
- Aid in cleaning duties
- Comply with quality and safety standards
- Communicate with other lab associates
- Represent department and organization favorably
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year data entry experience preferred
- Intermediate proficiency with PC-based software programs, including databases
- Experience or formal training in handling potentially infectious human blood and bodily fluids preferred
- Ability to work with automated and manual platforms
- Skills in aseptic techniques
- Intermediate proficiency with PC-based software programs
- Ability to read, interpret, and comply with internal SOPs, operating instructions, and company policies
- Position may require evening and weekend hours
Education
- BS or BA in Biological, Physical, or Chemical Science
- OR BS or BA degree in related science fields with 16 hours in Biology, 16 hours in Chemistry, and 3 hours of Mathematics

Physical Requirements
- Sufficient physical dexterity to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively for keyboard and office equipment use, speaking, hearing, standing, lifting up to 15 pounds, moving around laboratory equipment and instrumentation, and using a personal computer for extended periods
- Ability to communicate clearly and understand documents such as internal SOPs, operating instructions, and company policies
- Continuous operation of a personal computer for extended periods
- Mental acuity to collect and interpret data, evaluate problems, establish facts, draw conclusions, make judgments, and decisions

Position is full-time, Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm, with potential overtime. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Lenexa, KS are encouraged to apply.
